Summary

The Senior Copywriter will have experience writing for direct mail and multi-channel integrated campaigns. The Senior Copywriter will have agency experience, excellent writing skills, know how to tell a compelling story and position an offer, be able to motivate a reader to take the action we want them to take, and enjoy working in a fast-paced creative environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with Creative Director and Art Directors to develop new concepts for direct mail and digital campaigns.
  • Develops and delivers clear, concise, and compelling direct mail and digital copy for nonprofit organizations to help them raise funds to fulfill their missions.
  • Reviews campaign results and applies learnings.
  • Maintains consistent and compelling messaging according to each client’s brand guidelines.
  • Reflects the “voice” of a variety of clients in different verticals.
  • Works with account team partners to understand and effectively represent clients to donors and prospects.
  • Listens well and is receptive to internal and client feedback.
  • Supplements writing resources provided with internet research and interviews as needed.
  • Delivers a quality product in a high volume, fast-paced agency environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of direct mail concepts and multi-channel integrated strategies.
  • Strategic, highly conceptual thinker.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Comfort with a fast-paced agency environment and a variety of client service tasks.
  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects while working independently and on teams.
  • Is organized, detail oriented, able to work independently and to manage multiple projects at once while meeting critical deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and PowerPoint, Adobe InCopy a plus.
  • Other key competencies include quality management, adaptability, initiative and innovation, sound judgement, outstanding problem-solving abilities, and strong interpersonal skills.

 

  • Note: Qualified candidates must provide writing samples or access to a portfolio of work.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism, Creative Writing, or Liberal Arts preferred.

Experience:

  • Five or more years of experience producing effective direct response fundraising copy in an agency environment required.
  • Experience writing for nonprofit organizations preferred.
