Senior Analyst

Description:

The Senior Analyst will serve as a technical and subject-matter expert responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing routine and ad hoc reports, as well as communicating actionable insights to audiences inside and outside CDR. The Senior Analyst will also be embedded with the client services team for one or more clients, informing and executing strategy from initial planning through projections, test design, segmentation, reporting, analysis, and review.

 

The ideal candidate must be a strategic thinker able to work in fast-paced, creative, entrepreneurial environment; comfortable with a varied set of data sources and reporting tools; and passionate about connecting data with business results for our clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides standard, ad hoc, and custom reporting to CDR clients and agency team.
  • Develops, maintains, and troubleshoots custom dashboards and reports.
  • Informs and executes strategy for randomized testing and audience segmentation.
  • Develops and updates program- and campaign-level projections.
  • Works with agency team members and partners to interpret results, make strategic recommendations, and plan new solutions.
  • Presents and explains complicated concepts and results to non-technical internal and external audiences.
  • Provides technical work products, substantive analysis, and consultation across multiple client teams.
  • Collects and analyzes datasets using Excel, MS Access, R, SQL, Sisense and other tools and languages as required.
  • Serves as an internal resource for technical and substantive training and questions.
  • Identifies areas for innovation or process improvement, performs independent research, and develops innovative approaches, processes, or code.
  • Stays abreast of nonprofit industry trends and research.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of direct marketing across multiple channels, including but not limited to email, digital advertising, website, direct mail, and direct response TV.
  • Familiarity with fundraising metrics, file segmentation techniques, and direct marketing strategy, especially in digital channels.
  • Proven judgment and communication skills in a client services environment, including clear presentation of technical concepts, informing and advocating for marketing strategies, responsiveness, managing project scope, and addressing problems head on.
  • Proven ability to perform analytic tasks (including but not limited to data mining, predictive modeling, segmentation, randomized test design, forecasting, data visualization, etc.) and creating meaningful outputs.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis methods and concepts like randomized controlled trials, hypothesis testing, summary statistics, regression, and other explanatory and predictive modeling frameworks.
  • Facility with reporting platforms that sit atop multiple database and non-database sources (such as Periscope Data, Sisense, and Tableau).
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Comfort working across a wide array of client data and reporting platforms.
  • Comfort with a fast-paced agency environment and a variety of client service tasks.
  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects while working independently and on teams.
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with internal staff.
  • Familiarity with APIs and experience accessing and processing remote data.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, marketing, economics, management information systems, or related field. Master’s degree preferred. (Additional work experience may satisfy the education requirement.)

Experience:

  • Three or more years of progressively responsible experience as a marketing data analyst with a non-profit organization or an agency that provides direct marketing services to non-profit organizations.
  • At least two years of experience with digital fundraising strategy, techniques, metrics, and tools.
  • Proficiency with data analysis and visualization in MS Excel, MS Access, and reporting platforms that sit atop multiple database and non-database sources (such as Periscope Data, Sisense, or Tableau).
  • Experience with multiple CRMs used in nonprofit fundraising, such as Aegis, DMI, Blackbaud CRM, Salesforce, and Raiser’s Edge, as well as eCRMs and tools such as Luminate, Classy, Salsa, ActiveCampaign, and MailChimp. Familiar with digital advertising and Google Analytics.
  • Experience with data warehousing and data manipulation using SQL variants strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with statistical programming in open-source environments like R and Python or packages like SPSS, STATA, and SASS preferred.
