Employee Spotlight: Kathleen Randour
Each month, CDR features a spotlight of one of our employees. This month we are learning more about Graphic Designer, Kathleen Randour.
What is your favorite thing about working at CDR? A genuine camaraderie among my fellow coworkers in the art department. We’re all a dedicated, hard working department that enjoy laughing a lot and working together. There’s a lot of mutual support and team spirit that we share while we search for creative solutions to further enhance our client’s mission.
What is your guilty pleasure? Anything Pumpkin. Pumpkin pie, pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin bread, pumpkin latte … even my dog is named Pumpkin! Lol!!!
Who do you donate to or volunteer with? I volunteer a lot of my time with Boy Scout Troop #447 that my son belongs to as he works towards becoming an eagle scout. I’m also a member of his school’s Advancement Committee at Monsignor Slade Catholic School that meet monthly in helping to increase awareness and enrollment in a catholic education. My graphic arts/marketing skills come in handy.
If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Pizza. I love it!
Where was the last place you traveled (for fun or for work)? The last place I traveled to was New Orleans, LA for the Creative Pro Week Conference back in June 2018. It was a “how to” conference for creative professionals from all across the U.S and from seven countries. Was a great opportunity to sharpen my Adobe graphic design skills, meet leading software design experts, attend hands-on training sessions and meet other like-minded creative professionals in various industries. Was such a great opportunity to learn, recharge and become inspired! Was my first trip to NOLA and what a great city. Brimming with talent from the arts, music, food and culture of the city. Loved every minute of it!!!
Where is one city or country you would love to visit? Ireland. Would love to explore and learn a little more of my Irish, ancestral heritage. My grandmother, Grace Mariacher lived to be 98 years old. Would love to go back in time to learn more about her early life growing up. She also had a twin sister that I’ve never known. I’ve only seen black and white, tin-type photos from when they were little.
What was your first job and what did it teach you? My first job was working as a busgirl clearing tables, taking dirty dishes to the dishwashers, setting tables and helping the wait staff at an Italian restaurant, called Ricardo’s in Erie, PA. I come from a rather large, Irish catholic family of seven siblings. So, my first job was really my first taste of independence. Earning my own money, setting goals, and working all throughout high school. I think all my siblings worked there at one time or another while we were growing up. To this day, I still go back there and know the owners and many of the waitresses that I once used to work with.
Keep calm and …? stay focused. One day at a time.
If you could be a super hero, which one would you be? Elastigirl from the Incredibles. The super-mom, who devotes herself to her family with the sassy, take charge attitude. She’s incredibly flexible and funny. One of my favorite lines from the Incredibles is: “Girls, come on! Leave saving of the world to the men? I don’t think so!”
Tell us about your pets? My current dog is named Pumpkin. He is a Dogue de Bordeaux, (French Mastiff). Fell in love with this breed after attending Erie’s Kennel Club dog show. Was the featured breed and I was able to meet multiple breeders and interact with the animals. The French Mastiff is truly a gentle giant. Very intelligent, sweet and docile, but yet project a calm, in control demeanor. Pumpkin is my son’s best friend. We take him everywhere. He’s the best dog I’ve ever had. My previous dog was Mugsy, an American Bulldog. Unfortunately, he passed away from pet cancer at age 5. In his short life he was remarkable. Worked with a professional dog trainer since he was a puppy. Was trained in Japanese and hand signals. We worked together in an advanced obedience class and part of a police canine unit for PG county. He really opened up my world to what an animal and owner can be trained to do.
